The New Coffee Frontier
The newest coffee-growing frontier in Minas Gerais is the Chapada de Minas, in the Jequitinhonha Valley, where the city of Capelinha concentrates an important part of the local production. Other coffee-producing cities in the region include Angelândia, Montes Claros, and Buritizeiro.

Coffee Characteristics
Caramel, dried fruits, dense body, citrus acidity, and lemongrass notes.

Fazenda Alvorada — Reference in Specialty Coffee
Located in the Jequitinhonha Valley, Fazenda Alvorada is a regional reference for specialty coffee. The farm has an extensive area dedicated to testing new coffee varieties and is frequently visited by researchers who monitor the progeny tests.

The farm was named "Alvorada" (which means "dawn" in Portuguese) because of the beautiful view of the horizon at sunrise, seen through the windows of the main house while preparing the first coffee of the day.

Producer Sérgio — Award-Winning Coffee Producer from Chapada de Minas
Sérgio Meirelles Filho invested in specialty coffee production in the Chapada de Minas region and won the Minas Gerais Coffee Quality Contest. Despite the challenges, he stood out in the Minas Gerais coffee scene, becoming one of the Minas Gerais Coffee Quality winners.
