Caxambu and Aracaçu
Três Pontas - MG
Living with and from it
It all started over a hundred years ago, when our grandparents began writing the history of our family on the Caxambu and Aracaçu Farms. Among eight children, our mother Ivone inherited Fazenda Caxambu. Already married to our father Francisco José, a descendant of a family of sugarcane mill owners, they began their life amid coffee plantations and dairy production. Soon after, they acquired Fazenda Aracaçu, which at the time was owned by one of our mother’s sisters. They had five children, and here we grew up and learned to live as part of nature, respecting it as the great provider of our livelihood.
Today, we are the third generation managing the farms, with the fifth generation already being prepared to take over, in the future, the family business that has for many years provided numerous opportunities to people who have built their lives in a dignified, healthy, and just way, with coffee as the driving force behind all of our development.
Fazendas Caxambu and Aracaçu:
Located in the south of Minas Gerais, between the winding mountains that paint the landscapes of the municipality of Três Pontas, the region is historically known for its prosperous agricultural culture, with its charms and riches.
Fazenda Caxambu is named after the African ancestry that settled in Brazil early on. The word "Caxambu" means "music box," referring to the African drums widely used by local tribes at the time as a form of communication. This legacy continues today in the production of our Afro Honey Coffee, a major highlight in our portfolio. Afro Honey is produced in a manner similar to the "stomping of grapes" for wine: with the coffee cherries in wooden barrels, accompanied by the sound of African drums.
With 211 hectares, Fazenda Caxambu consists of 120 hectares of coffee plantations, more than 60 hectares of legal reserve and permanent preservation areas (APP), 13 hectares of pasture, and nearly 10 hectares dedicated to processing and preparing the coffee.
With altitudes ranging from 1,150 to 930 meters, the coffee fields resemble a vast green carpet covering the typical mountains of Minas Gerais, offering the world some of the most sought-after and desired coffees, with unique and unforgettable sensory nuances.
Fazenda Aracaçu carries the memory of the indigenous people, whose traces remain on our lands. "Aracaçu" means "a large tree that connects heaven and earth." This connection transcends the operational sphere and continuously places us in tune with a spiritual dimension, which has always been a strong path for strengthening our work.
With a total of 170 hectares, Fazenda Aracaçu has 115 hectares dedicated to coffee plantations and 45 hectares of reserves and permanent preservation areas. It is a true nursery of springs that are preserved with respect and responsibility by those who understand the principles of nature and feel deep gratitude for having such sacred land in their hands.
Together, the two farms form a 380-hectare complex. A green mantle that produces 9,500 bags of coffee annually, meeting the demand of the most discerning markets and consumers in the world, due to their meticulous and committed processing.
Sustainability:
The focus of Fazenda Caxambu and Aracaçu is on the present moment, supported by historical events and looking to the future. The continuous renewal of the plantations ensures quality, productivity, and improvements in production processes—fundamental conditions for the economic sustainability of the business, which guarantees consistent and essential socio-environmental projects for the preservation of agricultural activities.
